Artist Statement

John Sweeny paints with no expectations. His journey through his art is as much about an exploration of color and textures as it is a place to find calm. He starts with layers of paint and builds a history on the canvas. The ridges and movement created by the layers provide a texture that supports the hues and shades and rich colors that find their way next to and on top of each other. Inspired by imperfection, John creates art that through all of its complexity finds a way to sooth and calm.
